Beer Bread

Have you ever had beer bread? It’s an amazingly delicious side dish that goes well with so many meals. Heck, I’ve even eaten this as breakfast the next day. Bonus points: it’s super quick (by bread standards) and easy to make. Let me walk you through how to make this fun side dish.
Bread that’s made with beer?
Yup, that’s right! This bread requires 6 ingredients and beer is one of them. While you could use any type of beer that you like, I recommend using a standard beer (aka not flavored one). Whenever I cook, my go-to cooking beer is Miller Lite. I think Miller Lite gives great beer flavor when cooking with it. In addition to the beer, you will also need the following:
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Butter
- Sugar
You probably have all of these ingredients in your kitchen. If so, then there’s no reason you can’t whip up beer bread any time that you want it.
How do we turn beer into bread?
Making beer bread is as simple as mixing the dry ingredients with the beer The only caveat is that the flour needs to be sifted. Without sifting, the flour will be compacted together, making the bread hard instead of soft. For those of us that do not have a flour sifter (I don’t), a hand strainer works just as well. Once the ingredients are mixed together, add everything to a loaf pan and pour melted butter on top. This will give you a crispy top of the bread that’s soft on the inside – delicious! Bake in the oven for 1 hour and your beer has been turned into bread.
Leftovers are not always common
Whenever I make beer bread, there usually aren’t any leftovers. Seriously, people are pushing each other out of the way / fighting over the last slice. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but it is always very popular. Whatever is leftover is usually gone by breakfast the next day. This bread is crispy, soft, and packed with flavor all at the same time – the perfect side for so many dishes. So the next time you see a beer and think to yourself, “hmm I really wish this beer was bread”, now you know how easily you can make that happen!
